In today’s CapCon, politics over election integrity were front and center in New York Wednesday.
Nassau County Bruce Blakeman, the Republican nominee for governor, claimed Gov. Kathy Hochul would try to “steal the election” from him this November and, in Rochester, U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries co-led a hearing on voter protections.
Then, remember that humanoid robot that a school in western New York almost deployed? In New Bills of Note, a Democrat has introduced legislation that would prohibit that from happening statewide.
Later, a new On The Bill looks at legislation that passed both chambers of the state Legislature this year to make it harder for people under a guardianship to be denied visitation from their family.
Plus, Hochul will have to decide in the coming months if New York should expand protections for consumers facing certain forms of debt or leave the law unchanged.
