Good afternoon — it’s Thursday and National Bao Day.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2024

TODAY’S CAPCON:

  • Brooklynite and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries says Trump is like an old boyfriend who just won’t go away. (Almost a direct quote.)

  • A bipartisan coalition in the state Senate is asking White House to look at changes to CDPAP.

  • Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz gets a win in a defamation suit against him brought by a former assistant principal.

  • More New Yorkers are set to take the stage Thursday at the D.N.C.

  • Jeffries is also a familiar face in Albany, where he was a member of the state Assembly.

  • He served three terms before successfully running for his seat in Congress.

And “candid” is a good word to describe Jeffries’ brief remarks Wednesday evening at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
