In today’s CapCon, Gov. Kathy Hochul said she spoke with President Donald J. Trump this week about the impact that thousands of Haitian immigrants losing temporary protected status will have on New York.
Then, Hochul and state AG Letitia James also said Wednesday New York could try to block ICE’s plans to outfit officers with gloves that can deliver an electric shock.
Later, I dive a bit deeper into the results of today’s new Siena poll, including a huge shift for Hochul in support from the state’s youngest voters. Gen Z thinks she’s mid, no cap.
Plus, state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli is optimistic about the finances of New York City following this year’s budget process. But there’s trouble ahead, he said.
