🙅♀️ Hochul shoots down new Mamdani proposal to close city’s budget gap
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin united Tuesday around a new idea to help close the city’s $5.4 billion budget gap.
Their proposal, which would have to be approved by Gov. Kathy Hochul and the state Legislature, would reduce the city’s pass-through entity tax rebate. Mamdani estimated the measure would generate $1 billion for the city.
