Good afternoon — it’s Monday and Festivus.

In today’s CapCon:

  • Hochul acted on the rest of the bills this weekend that were sitting on her desk. We’ve got the full list of bills she signed and vetoed, along with highlights.

  • The story about the death of an incarcerated man who was allegedly beaten to death by correction officers at Marcy continues to evolve.

  • This Week in New York History: “The Night Before Christmas,” the North American Blizzard of 1947 and Quakers in Flushing.

❗ CapCon Note: If you’re looking for a last-minute gift for the government-watcher in your life, look no further. You can buy a gift subscription to CapCon right now.

We also have a two-week free trial running right now if you want to treat yourself.

You won’t hear from me again until Friday, unless something happens on Thursday that can’t wait. I hope you all have a happy and healthy holiday! ❄️

🖋️ Hochul has cleared her desk ahead of the holidays

‘Twas the night before Sunday and all through my house, not a creature was stirring, not even my spouse!

The internet then gave my heart quite the scare, for Gov. Hochul had news to share.

Her staffers were working, against all their wills. And Hochul had signed more than 70 bills!

But that was not all, amid all the snow, 26 bills got the governor’s veto.

That’s a Dan Clark original. If you plagiarize it, I will tell Santa.

Hochul acted on 103 bills Saturday night, which finished the stack that was sent to her about a week prior. That means there’s nothing on her desk at the moment and only two bills are now left for her to either act on or pocket veto.

She signed 77 bills and vetoed 26, which you already know from the headline of this newsletter.

I have the full list of bills she signed and vetoed after the paywall for paid subscribers. (Reminder about that two-week free trial we have. Click here for that free trial.)

So before you dip too deep into the ‘nog, give this a quick read or bookmark it for when you’re nursing that hangover in a few days.
