A former top staffer for Hochul was indicted for allegedly secretly acting as a foreign agent for the CCP, an arrangement that fueled a lavish lifestyle.
There was some confusion Wednesday whether that translated into a diplomat’s expulsion or not.
Counties are required by state law to create provisions for checking the accuracy of prices in stores but an audit found that’s not common.

🔎 Hochul responds to the indictment of Linda Sun
🗣️ Hochul took several questions from reporters on the arrest of Linda Sun and her involvement in state government.
Gov. Kathy HOCHUL left the room for about 20 minutes today in between questions with reporters and emerged with some pretty big news.
“I was just on the phone at the request of Secretary Blinken, our Secretary of State, speaking with a high ranking State Department official,” Hochul said.
“I had conveyed my desire to have the consul general from (China) in New York mission expelled,” she said. “And I’ve been informed that the consul general is no longer in the New York mission.”
But it turned out the consul general actually wasn’t expelled, according to a State Department spokesman.
