Good afternoon — it’s Friday, and National Ugly Sweater Day.

In today’s CapCon:

  • We’re back! Well, not yet. But lawmakers have pre-filed 315 bills to prepare for the upcoming legislative session. (See the full list below.)

  • Hochul signed another bill Friday and three more were sent to her desk. That leaves only two in legislative limbo.

📨 Lawmakers have pre-filed 315 bills for 2025

It’s already next year as far as members of the state Legislature are concerned. Several of them have been pre-filing bills ahead of the Jan. 8 start date of the new legislative session. We’re back, baby!

These are usually bills that were active the previous year and either didn’t pass or were vetoed by the governor. Lawmakers have to reintroduce them every two years if they want to keep them alive.

I have the full list of bills that have been pre-filed as of this afternoon below for paid CapCon subscribers. (Reminder that, as a holiday gift to non-subscribers, we’re offering two weeks free right now.) ⬇️
