In today’s CapCon, a new bill introduced in the state Legislature Wednesday would ban the “shock gloves” planned to be used by ICE officers in the coming months.
Then, the state Board of Elections approved the adoption of a handful of regulations, including rules around new ballot drop boxes. The Public Campaign Finance Board opened new investigations and issued subpoenas.
And, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Gov. Kathy Hochul both defended the city’s use of public funds to pay influencers peddling the administration’s agenda.
Plus, New Jersey legalized plug-in solar panels this week. On The Bill has details on the New York bill that would do the same thing but hasn’t been decided by Hochul.
Bonus: The state Republican Party is seeking the email sent to staff at the state attorney general’s office claiming an orchestrated targeting of the Trump administration.
