Hey, it’s Dan. We made it through the week — I’m proud of us!
In today’s CapCon, the saga of John A. Sarcone III continues. A federal appellate court on Friday sided against the Trump administration’s argument that he was legally installed as the top federal prosecutor in Albany.
Then, five dozen Democrats in the state Legislature are renewing their calls for Hochul to sign their omnibus bill on data centers, saying it’ll have a more lasting impact than her executive order will.
And, Republicans in the state Senate on Friday joined calls for Hochul to find funding for rape crisis centers that were informed that they’ll be getting less funding from the state, citing the size of the state budget.
Later, more local governments are finding it harder to operate within the confines of the state’s mandatory cap on local tax increases, a new report finds.
Plus, a new bill from state Sen. Andrew Gounardes seeks to set tight restrictions on when school districts can allow students to rely on technology.
Bonus: This Week in New York History features Babe Ruth, the Beatles and the first ever steamboat.
Names in today’s CapCon: John A. Sarcone III, Donald Trump, Kathy Hochul, Andrew Gounardes, Letitia James, Michael Henry, Robert G. Ortt, Didi Barrett, Kristen Gonzalez, Thomas P. DiNapoli, Malik Evans
