It’s no secret that New York is losing population. We lost a seat in Congress after the last U.S. Census because of it.
Some have blamed the weather. Others point to the economy. But regardless of the reason, more New Yorkers are packing up than moving in. More than 630,000 residents have left New York since 2020.
We found out Thursday where they moved last year, when 481,544 people migrated to another state.
That’s according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which released data Thursday on migration between states in 2023. That’s part of the American Community Survey conducted each year.
