💡 Is Hochul warming up to nuclear energy?
⚡ A summit convened by Hochul in Syracuse Thursday focused on how (or if) the state could meet its ambitious climate goals.
Here’s something you might not know: About 91 percent of the energy produced in upstate New York in 2023 was from zero-emission sources.
That’s 40 percent from hydroelectric power, 43 percent from nuclear power and 8 percent from wind.
Downstate is the exact opposite: Only 4 percent (yes, 4) comes from zero-emission sources in that region of the state last year.
About 94 percent of the energy produced comes from gas or oil. The other two-percent come from renewables that create emissions.
