In today’s CapCon, we have an update on the homeless population in New York. While there was good news for the number of people homeless in New York City, some areas of upstate New York saw double-digit increases in their population that’s unhoused.
Then, Republicans in the state Senate are seizing on news out of New Jersey, where the governor said this week that a software glitch had led to noncitizens voting. They now want more scrutiny of New York’s voter rolls from Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Later, in Rules and Regs, New York is taking the first steps toward creating a pool of child care workers that can act as substitutes when providers are shorthanded and the state’s health agency is setting a permanent framework for community paramedics.
Plus, I tell you about a bill that would fast-track social workers into the workforce in New Bills of Note and in Bills Passed But Pending, lawmakers passed a bill this year that seeks to address the persistent Legionnaire’s disease outbreaks in New York City.
